Web 2.0 Style LogoWeb 2.0 Style Logo
This tutorial will show you how to make that glassy-reflective style logo!
1) Start with a 800x600 sized canvas
2) Next use a black (primary) and white (secondary) linear gradient
3) Add a layer and type in what ever text you want (red and blue works best)
4) Use the "Ellipse Select" tool to get the top of the text on that layer
5) Now duplicate that layer and hit the "delete" key on your keyboard (you won't notice a change yet) and then hit the "Move layer down" button on the layer window.
6) Now go to the other layer (the original "text" layer) and double click on it to bring up the layer properties.
7) Bring the Opacity down to about 150 and hit OK.
 Now duplicate the top layer and go to Layer/Flip Vertical on the tool bar and align the upside down text with the tip of the upright text
9) Now make your primary color black and your secondary color fully transparent white.
10) Now use a linear gradient from the bottom of the upsde down text to the top until it looks like this:
11) Now add a new layer and move it all the way down the list below the "Background" layer. Now uncheck every "Visible" box except the new layer you just added.
12) Make your primary color orange and secondary yellow. Use a linear gradient like this
13) Now re-check all of the visible boxes.
14) Click the "Eraser" tool and set its width to 100
15) Use the eraser 1 click so it looks like this:
16) Now add a new layer right above the "Background" layer. Use the "Ellipse" tool and set its width to 4.
17) Now make a circle (somewhere at the top) thats the same size as the orange circle you have now:
1 Now use the "Move Selected Pixels" tool so the circle fits around the orange sold circle you have perfectly (or as best as you can).
19) Now go to your "Background" layer and change you primary color to a dark color (black works best). And type whatever you want into that circle. Web 2.0 uses the word "Beta" when they use the "Circle". But be creative!
20) Now use the "Rectangle Select" tool to make a nicley fit box around your text and circle. The hit the "Crop to Selection" button on the the tool bar (Next to the paiste button).
21) Now flatten your project by going Image/Flatten Image on the tool bar.
22) Ta Dah!

Very good tut kp, but i would add to select the bulge effect on the circle making it look 3D. Other than that, great TuT.
